Edward Buckland has become Chairman of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) in Jersey. STEP is a prestigious professional body whose aim is to provide members with a local, national and international learning and business network.

Edward, a partner of Bedell Group, has over 18 years experience in all areas of offshore trust and company creation and administration.

After qualification with Allen & Overy, he specialised in private client matters, especially offshore trusts. Edward is involved with a wide range of offshore structures – these range from private wealth trusts holding investment assets, through similar structures holding private company shares, works of art or other chattels, to corporate structures such as employee benefit trusts.

Edward lectures widely, and is the author of the chapters on Practical Trust Administration in the two leading works on the subject.

STEP provides education, training, representation and networking for members, who are professionals specialising in trusts and estates, executorship, administration and related taxes. Members advise clients on the broad business of the management of personal finance. Local branches of the organisation can be found in virtually every corner of the British Isles and Ireland and are all are run by voluntary committees. The Jersey Branch is the largest branch in the world with over 1100 members.
