Bedell Cristin expands BVI disputes practice with strategic lateral partner hire, welcoming seasoned offshore litigator David Harby

Experienced offshore litigator David Harby has joined Bedell Cristin as local (BVI) managing partner to lead the firm's disputes practice in the BVI in a lateral partner hire from another offshore firm.

David has been admitted in the BVI for over a decade and in the Cayman Islands since 2015 – he has practised as a disputes partner in the BVI and the Cayman Islands, and also as a Barrister in London.

He has a long history of advising on matters relating to fraud, asset-tracing, shareholder disputes, insolvency and enforcement, working with onshore counsel, lenders and insolvency practitioners in London, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.

Partner Alasdair Davidson, who leads the firm's BVI disputes practice, said: "We are delighted to welcome a partner of David's experience and reputation to the firm – our team has had an exceptionally busy 2023 and we anticipate that 2024 will be no different."

The Bedell Cristin litigation team practises BVI, Cayman, Guernsey and Jersey law from offices in all four jurisdictions, as well as from offices in London and Singapore.

Tim Pearce, Bedell Cristin's global managing partner, added: "We are thrilled to have David on board as our first new hire of 2024, and we have ambitious plans to continue our growth in the coming 12 months.

"The market for BVI law is international, but we are pleased to have a disputes partner of David's experience resident on the ground in the BVI as part of our collaborative global team."
