Knowledge Lawyer (Part-time)
Locations: Jersey | Guernsey | London | Cayman Islands
As a part time Knowledge Lawyer, you will be part of our global knowledge function, working closely with the Head of Knowledge and KM Partners. You will be responsible for championing and actively delivering all aspects of our knowledge strategy and working closely with legal teams and business services functions.
You role will include providing training to support the development of our legal talent, promoting our business through print and digital news, briefings and thought leadership campaigns, ensuring our fee-earners have up to date legal tools and in-house resources to deliver client work efficiently, and assisting with the deployment of legal technology solutions for teams and clients.
Main responsibilities
- Keep the practice area up to date with new legal and regulatory developments which impact their work
- Provide an annual programme of training and development.
- Gather knowledge from new joiners and leavers.
- Undertake closed file reviews to gather know-how and future learning.
- Act as an advisory point of contact for the jurisdiction/practice area
- Draft and maintain precedents, guidance notes, checklists, practice notes and know-how.
- Assist with the development and delivery of automation projects and KM client solutions, as required
- Manage the practice area pages and collate knowledge collections
- Provide support on tenders and pitches.
- Create a pipeline of articles, news, and briefings to promote our services.
- Develop and maintain digital legal content (blogs, podcasts, webinars etc.) to support our BD plans
- Work with the Head of KM to define and agree knowledge priorities each year.
- Champion KM activities and drive best practice KM activity in teams
Qualifications
At least 5 years+ PQE with Jersey, Guernsey, Cayman, BVI and/or UK/Commonwealth qualifications.
Knowledge/skills/experience
- Experience as an offshore lawyer
- Experienced or qualified in one or more offshore jurisdictions in which we operate
- Excellent legal technical ability
- Business development acumen and broad commercial awareness
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Experience of knowledge management desirable but not essential
