Time runs out for registration of overseas entities
01 February 2023
The UK's new regime for the registration of overseas entities required non-UK entities (including BVI, Cayman, Guernsey and Jersey entities) holding UK land interests ("OEs") to register with Companies House by 31 January 2023 or face strict penalties for non-compliance.
Whilst the deadline has now passed and any OEs who have not registered are now in breach, they must still register with Companies House and have their registrable beneficial owner information verified before they can deal with their UK land interests – this cannot be avoided.
BC Verification Limited, a Bedell Cristin company, is authorised to undertake verification and registration on behalf of clients. OEs still needing to register under the new regime should contact us urgently for assistance to avoid further penalties applying.
