04 July 2016
Bedell Cristin partner, Zillah Howard, has been named ‘Best in Offshore’ for the fifth consecutive year in the Europe Women in Business Law Awards organised by Euromoney Legal Media Group.
The awards, which were presented at a gala ceremony in London attended by a wide cross section of Europe’s leading female lawyers, celebrate the achievement of women ‘leading the field’ in the European legal sector and those firms that set the standard with female friendly employment practices.
Leading female lawyers from UK and European law firms were shortlisted in the various categories and Bedell Cristin was the only Jersey firm to have two lawyers named. Zillah was also included on the shortlist for the best ‘Trusts & Estates’ lawyer and Emily Haithwaite, a partner in the firm’s funds team, was shortlisted in the ‘Best in Offshore’ category.
Zillah, who has more than 25 years’ experience in international private client work, is an active member of three key industry working parties which are helping to enhance Jersey’s offering in the global private client sector in relation to trusts, foundations and charities law. Her involvement in the discussions on the next set of trusts law changes (Trusts Law Amendment no. 7) has extended to significant speaking engagements on the topic at the IBC International Trusts and Private Client Forum in Jersey and at Jersey Finance's Annual Private Wealth Conference in London.
Described by the Chambers 2016 Directory as being ‘first class…and at the top of her game’, Zillah is included in the leaders and power women lists compiled by Citywealth and in Expert Guides Top 30 for trusts and estates practitioners in the world, and has previously been named as one of the UK’s 50 most influential private client practitioners by the leading online private wealth publication, eprivateclient.
David Cadin, Managing Partner at Bedell Cristin, commented:
"It’s a first class achievement to have won this award consistently year on year. It's a tribute to Zillah’s exemplary client service skills, her wide ranging expertise in international private client work, and her commitment to industry working groups which play an important role in enhancing Jersey's private client offering in a global and competitive market place."
