John Scanlan

John is an experienced Guernsey Advocate who advises clients on a range of investment funds, finance, corporate and regulatory matters.

He has been in private practice since 2008, and is recognised by Legal 500 as a Next Generation Partner for his work on corporate / M&A matters.

John advises clients in Guernsey, London and internationally on the establishment, management and regulation of Guernsey investment funds. He has both onshore and offshore experience of advising on open- and closed-ended funds, and across the full range of asset classes.

In addition, he has expertise in significant corporate transactions, including public and private M&A, listings and equity investments and disposals. 

His finance practice is mainly borrower-side, acting for funds and corporates on corporate finance, real estate finance and fund finance deals.

John trained at the London office of Simmons & Simmons, where he qualified into the corporate practice group in 2008, before spending time as a corporate and funds lawyer advising hedge fund clients in the Simmons and Simmons offices in London, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
