Questions or complaints

We hope that any questions or concerns which may arise in respect of the Legal Services which we provide to you may be satisfactorily resolved by discussion between you and the partner of Bedell Cristin responsible for your affairs. We will attempt to answer all complaints, including questions as to the amounts billed, fully and promptly.

In the event of any dissatisfaction, issues may be referred to our Managing Partner whose name is available on request who may then refer such matters to another Bedell Cristin Partner not involved in the provision of Legal Services to you for independent review.

Disputes in relation to fees may be referred to the Law Society (or equivalent body) of the Relevant Jurisdiction which may, in certain circumstances and if agreed by both parties, appoint an independent person or persons to review and adjudicate upon a bill which has been rendered.

Serious complaints about the conduct of a Jersey lawyer may also be referred to the Bâtonnier who may agree to institute independent disciplinary proceedings. Should any matter be incapable of being resolved in any of the ways set out above then the courts of Jersey shall have exclusive jurisdiction to hear such complaint or dispute applying Jersey law in all such matters.

Serious complaints about the conduct of a Guernsey Advocate or any of his staff may also be referred to the Bâtonnier of the Guernsey Bar Council who may agree to institute independent disciplinary proceedings via the Chambre de Discipline. Should any matter be incapable of being resolved in any of the ways set out above then the courts of Guernsey shall be exclusive jurisdiction to hear such complaint or dispute applying Guernsey law in all such matters.

Serious complaints about the conduct of a BVI lawyer may also be referred to the Disciplinary Tribunal who may agree to institute independent disciplinary proceedings should any matter be incapable of being resolved in any of the courts set out above then the costs of the BVI shall have exclusive jurisdiction to hear such complaint or dispute applying BVI law in all such matters.
