Bedell Cristin is very pleased to be supporting The Fund Foundry – the new initiative that aims to support emerging managers establishing funds in Guernsey by connecting them to experienced and qualified established managers and service providers.
Partner John Scanlan, an onshore and offshore funds lawyer with over 20 years' experience, said that the project captures Guernsey's appeal to emerging managers, because it offers a pragmatic and flexible regulatory environment, a supportive ecosystem and access to global markets while remaining cost effective and agile.
The innovative scheme, supported by Guernsey Finance and welcomed by the Island's financial services regulator, will support five managers per year carefully chosen from a global shortlist, offering a £25,000 voucher that can be applied to on-Island legal, administration and audit services in their first year, and a structured support package including mentor support from established managers.
John said: "Guernsey is the ideal location for emerging managers to get established, and this scheme gives them a real boost on their way to their first launch.
"We deal with a lot of managers in this position, not least because our Private Investment Fund regime is well-known as a good starting point within the industry.
"As a firm we're very happy to get behind this project as a Service Provider Sponsor and we look forward to helping to promote it wherever we can."
Guernsey is home to more than 1,500 funds with more than £1 trillion under management in the investment sector, attracting managers and investors of all sizes from around the world."
