Laura Oseland is a partner in our Cayman Islands office, focusing on advising Cayman Islands funds, investment managers, directors and administrators on the full spectrum of Cayman funds, corporate, financing and regulatory law. She advises on the full life-cycle for Cayman Islands investment funds, with specific experience on regulatory applications to CIMA.
Laura specialises in advising on fund launches, corporate governance matters and the Cayman Islands' regulatory framework, including the financial services licencing regime, matters relating to economic substance, data protection, beneficial ownership and the automatic exchange of information regime. She has also built a local practice advising companies on mergers and acquisitions, succession planning and the trade and business requirements of operating in the Cayman Islands.
Laura has been recognised by Legal 500 for the quality of her work; has been in private practice for a decade, and has been a Cayman Islands Attorney since 2021.
Prior to moving to the Cayman Islands, Laura's onshore experience encompassed advising on financings and joint ventures, acquisition of SPV structures for REITS, and advising global and institutional investors on investments into offshore funds, including funds established in the Cayman Islands, BVI, Guernsey, Jersey and Ireland.
Laura works with a global client base, with clients in Asia, the Middle East, the US, and Europe.
