Bedell Cristin has rounded off a positive Financial Year with promotions across Jersey and Guernsey law funds, corporate, banking and litigation teams.
The firm's annual end of year promotions also include further proposed promotions in the Cayman Islands office – subject to work permit approval by Cayman immigration authorities – and promotions to team members in business support roles.
The announcement caps a year in which Bedell Cristin has opened a new Middle East office in Abu Dhabi, won the Offshore Law Firm of the Year category in the Chambers & Partners High Net Worth Awards, and made partner level hires in its Guernsey International Private Client and BVI Litigation teams.
The promotions include:
- Daniel McAviney in the Jersey Financial Services Law team in the London office, who has been promoted to Managing Associate – Dan was a Bursary Student with Bedell Cristin in 2010 (and undertook Project Trident at the firm before that) and qualified in 2013. He works with clients on a range of funds, corporate and finance matters, and is currently undertaking the Jersey law exams.
- Abi Houghton in the Guernsey Litigation team based in London, who has been promoted to Senior Associate – Abi qualified with a London firm in 2019 and practised in the City before joining Bedell Cristin in May 2022.
- Moya Vaughan-Williams in the Jersey FSL team in the London office, who has been promoted to Senior Associate. Moya is qualified in England & Wales and South Africa and joined Bedell Cristin in 2022 initially as a paralegal, and now advises on a range of corporate, finance and real estate matters.
- Cassie Wade in the Guernsey Litigation team based in the London office, who has been promoted to Senior Associate. Cassie has been working with Guernsey law firms since 2011, and has been with Bedell Cristin for ten years, initially as a Legal Assistant.
- Carlene Todd, who has been promoted to Assistant Manager in the Client Take On Team in Jersey – Carlene joined the firm in 2022 as a Senior Client Take On Administrator having worked for several years at UBS.
Co-Global Managing Partner Edward Drummond said: "Having focused on growth with our new ADGM office and key hires over the past few months, it is pleasing to finish the year by recognising the contributions of team members to the continued development of the firm.
"Dan, Abi, Moya and Cassie have all had a real impact on their respective practice areas, and I am pleased to be able to confirm that they are progressing to more senior roles.
"We are also fortunate to have great teams of business services professionals in the firm who really add value to what we do – on that note, we are pleased to announce Carlene's promotion to a more senior role in the Take on Team, which covers all seven Bedell Cristin offices."
Edward, a tier-one ranked Jersey litigator, took on the Co-Global Managing Partner role alongside Nancy Chien, a tier-one ranked Jersey and BVI trusts lawyer, in January.
Nancy said: "On behalf of all of the partners, congratulations to Dan, Abi, Moya, Cassie and Carlene – and we look forward to announcing promotions in our growing Cayman Islands team in due course.
"At a time when we have new trainees starting their legal careers with us, it is great to mark the success of Dan and Cassie who both trained with Bedell Cristin and who have stayed and developed their careers with us.
"We have exciting plans for the coming year and the further growth of the firm."
